  1. Just finished reading every comment. This is the second time I have missed these live chats, even though I consider myself one of the most ubiquitous contributors to this site. How does this happen to me? Oh yes. I teach.

    In any event. All is understood as of today, Sunday, June 19, 2011 at 4:20PM, with the exception of what Frank and Jamie will do tomorrow or Tuesday if Bud declines the TV deal (which I DO NOT believe he will do, unless it is a quiet form of Payola-everence to leave, ala Admiral David Brewer of LAUSD). It is SO El LAY to do this kind of thing. But, I digress....

    What happens IF and WHEN Selig rejects the deal. First off, is this the last time the deal will be revisited? Can Frank make payroll June 30th and then re-petition Selig yet again on this deal? Or is this Selig's final decision, period? Do Frank and Jamie return to the "settlement" table and attempt to settle their share of community property after all debts are paid out after the team is sold? What about a declaration of bankruptcy? Does Frank have the latitude to declare bankruptcy with Jamie now attached in California as "co-owner" of the franchise, in her words? It seems as though there are as many permutations and future scenarios as there are Mandelbrot Fractals. Do we really believe that Selig will support a deep pocket owner and prop up this perennial small-market mentality in a large market into a super power and escalate salaries coast to coast? Wouldn't his motivation be to continue these vettings, as you mentioned, of just missed owners, such as he has shown a penchant for providing franchises to, and place them at the helm of these organizations to keep costs down, as always? Why would things change? What is the motivation of the other owners in getting McCourt out, the REAL motivation? Is it pure unadulterated cronyism in order to "gift" the Dodgers to some more oil friends who might be having their version of "hard times"?

    I mean, really! What is going on, here? You cannot just remove an owner from ownership, prevent him from receiving private funds, cut him off, and consider it legal. I cannot imagine that Bud Selig has not been CLEARLY instructed of this. IT...WILL....COST....HIM....TO....BE....RID....OF....THE....MCCOURTS......!!!!!!

    Whether I am happy or not to see the couple go, business is as American as apple pie. Surely we will know, without knowing per se, what happened on Tuesday.
